Nam June Paik: Moon Is the Oldest TV

Organised by MOViE MOViE

The technological world today was a future Nam June Paik foresaw decades ago. As the father of video art, he was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. His works are collected by the M+ Museum and have been exhibited in Hong Kong Art Basel and Art Central. Iconic art gallery Tate Modern organized a tribute exhibition of Nam’s works in 2019.

Directed by Amanda Kim and narrated by Oscar nominee Steven Yuen, this documentary chronicles the life of a complex yet brilliantly clairvoyant pioneer, showing how he became one of the greatest Asian American avant-garde artists of his time. Throughout his career, Paik was an avid creator of art, music, video and performance. Today, his works of art continue to pave the way for a reconsideration of opportunities and complexities around us.
