Christmas Cheer: Machine Knitting Workshop

Organised by CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile)

How can combining simple stripes, texture and in-lay techniques on the knitting machine be used to make a festive knit? In this 4 hour workshop, participants will learn the basic operations of a hand flat knitting machine to create a unique, textured cinch bag. Join us at CHAT Lab for this Christmas-inspired session with rich reds and nature greens yarn to create the perfect accessory for the holiday season. The workshop will be hosted by guest instructor Dr Julia Wilmott, a knitwear educator, maker, and researcher originally from the United Kingdom. Throughout the session, Julia will discuss her doctoral research into how pattern and structure created on the knitting machine can be used for sustainability and industrial use, while teaching participants some pro tips!
