Fisherman Song Remake

Organised by Hong Kong Fishing Culture Association Limited, Bottoms Up Communication Limited, Heyson Tsang, The W

The Fisherman's Song is simple in style spontaneous in interpretation with a repetitive melody and no accompaniment. The singer conveys sentiments through the song while listeners focus in silence. The sea itself whispers silently listening to the anecdotes of life on the water. Independent musician Heyson Tsang inspired by fisherman's song, presents a solo performance reinterpreting “Fishermen’s Laments”* and several local pop songs with water as the theme. This allows the audience to immerse themselves in the ebb and flow of the sea transforming the sampan journey into a sanctuary for the soul.

"The Fisherman Song Remake" will use the main entrance of the Tai Pak Floating Restaurant as the backdrop for the performance. Visitors will take a sampan ride to explore the typhoon shelter while enjoying musical performances, allowing them to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the fishing port through the senses of hearing and sight.

* “Fishermen’s Laments" is one of the fisherman's Song featured in the documentary series "Ballad on the Shore" published by ACO.
